The order of things...

This blog is out of order, scroll down to the picture in the red top and that's the best view of my sisterlocks. I'll be re-tightened on November 17th, after that I'll have a photo taken and I'll post. I kept saying to my husband, my hair isn't growing and he'd just look at me sideways and respond, "yes it is". Viewing the photos puts it in perspective.

In March with 2 strand twists, it's so short!!!! This is the approximate length of when I started. Posted by Picasa

From August to November

Shout out to Brunsli, girl you’re quite the inspiration. It has been quite sometime as I started this blog in August, it’s now November and you’re probably saying to yourself, what the heck would take anyone that long? Well long story short working a regular job, being a wife, a part-time realtor and a notary signing agent, trying to partner up with my sister on some interior decorating jobs well the blog was low on the list, so here goes nothing.

Who am I? I’m Anita Henley Carrington, I live in Laurel, Maryland, born and bred in Erie, PA. I work in Washington, DC at George Washington University. I’ve been in the DC area for over 20 years and I love it! I am an artist at heart, I started drawing at around 4, the youngest of seven children, all my siblings are artistic and neither of my parents are artists. Go figure… My mom is a retired cook, dad a retired construction worker. I am a systems administrator for the University, but as we all know you should never be defined by your job. Because it’s just that, a job! I'm also a realtor, I work for Clark and Associates, a boutique firm out of Beltsville, MD. So if anyone's looking for a realtor in the area look me up, my husband and I work as a team. My husband is Carl, we've been married for 15 years. Whew, what a feat!!

Purpose of the blog.... To actually witness the growth of my hair, along with my spirit and my businesses. To develop my strengths and diminish my weaknesses. To define and implement both personal and professional goals. To build strong relationships with God and my fellow persons. This is a journey into self, let's see what a year will bring. It will be a year free of television. There will be one exception, catching the weather and traffic before departing for work. All other forms of news will be gained from either reading the paper or through hearsay. This should be interesting and loads of fun!

On to the hair thing, I got locked on March 14, 2005. So next Monday it’ll be 8 months, wow time flies. My loctician is Marvella Winston-Pope, it took two days to have my locks installed, Marvella is fabulous!!! I’ve had quite a bit of slippage, although my hair is coarse it doesn’t seem to want to lock. I’m looking forward to March 2008, hopefully by then it’ll be long and locked up tight. Thanks for stopping by, peace and blessings to everyone who visits.
